Nanny burn-out? We can help!
There comes a point in any career when you wake up and dread your commute, the tasks, and doing it all again tomorrow. Burnout is common in almost all careers, especially those that require a large amount of emotional and physical labor. While this can happen to anyone, nannies are notably prone to burnout. Being a nanny demands a large amount of emotional labor that can drive them to feel fatigued early. Burnout is not only avoidable, but it is treatable. We are here to help!
Build a Community!
When working as a nanny, you are typically in a home with one or multiple children and few adults. It is important to build a community of people around you to support you. We encourage you to look around for nanny groups in your area to schedule some playdates.
Take Small Breaks!
Depending on the age of the children you’re working with, be sure to take a few minutes to yourself. Check in with how you’re feeling throughout the day and find a pocket of the day to take a breath and relax. Make yourself some herbal tea and sit down for 2 minutes while the legos are being played with, it can help you show up more intentionally throughout the busy day.
Engage in Self-Care!
This means something different for everyone, but it is an important one! Self-care is a big buzzword these days, and it’s important to find something that fits your needs. Exercise is a great form of de-stressing and releasing endorphins, the chemicals in your brain that are responsible for happiness.
Get outside for fresh air and sunshine!
This tip is really a win-win for everyone. Whether it’s the middle of winter or the hottest summer day, get those kids outside and take a deep breath of that fresh air! Not only can you take a minute to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, your nanny kids can get some of their boundless energy out.
