7 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Boston with Kids
Boston will be seeing lots of green this month, as it’s almost time to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. While it seems like most St. Patrick’s Day activities are made for adults, nannies in Boston can still find ways to get kids involved at home and throughout the city. Here are some fun green recipes and activities everyone can take part in to celebrate this festive holiday.
1) Green Eggs and Pancakes
Since we (unfortunately) can’t dive head-first into St. Patrick’s Day treats, you can kick off the day with this fun, green breakfast. No dye is found in these eggs and pancakes, though, as the coloring comes from spinach! Need a gluten- or dairy-free option? This recipe’s got you covered.
2) St. Patrick’s Day Popcorn
Popcorn is a fun snack no matter what day it is, but this St. Patrick’s Day Popcorn packs some extra surprises. The perfect mix of sweet and salty, this recipe uses candy and marshmallows to give the popcorn its green flair instead of food coloring. If you’re out and about for the day, this popcorn is super easy to grab on the go.
3) Green Grilled Cheese
As much as the kids wish they could have sweets the entire day, their parents will probably appreciate some healthier options, too. That’s where this green grilled cheese comes in. It still has all the cheesy flavor kids love but adds a healthy green kick with avocado pesto.
4) Shamrock Shake
Milkshakes are a fun treat year-round, but this special shamrock shake is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day. You can whip these up in just five minutes and add some peppermint flavor for an extra kick. Get the kids involved by letting them decorate the top of their shakes with sprinkles or rainbow candy to make it uniquely theirs.
5) Enrichment Fun at Franklin Park Zoo
Head out to the Franklin Park Zoo for some St. Patrick’s Day Fun. Along with tons of arts and crafts tables and education stations, kids can watch the animals get their own green treats for the holiday. This activity is excellent for kids of all ages!
6) Boston Children’s Museum
The Boston Children’s Museum is a staple location for nannies in Boston, and St. Patrick’s Day is a great day to make the trip! The celebration will help kids learn about and explore stories of immigration through activities and live performances. There will also be four-leaf clovers, music, and arts and crafts.
