Household Dynamic:
A loving family in Newton is seeking a compassionate, adaptable, and eager-to-learn nanny to care for their wonderful 7-year-old daughter. She is a bright, funny, and amazing young girl with medical complexities, and the family is looking for someone excited to learn and be a hands-on part of her care. The role involves assisting with her medical equipment, communication technology (eye-gaze device), and school support. The nanny will accompany her to school daily, working closely with her classroom team in a fun and collaborative environment. This position is perfect for a patient, fun-loving, and hands-on nanny who is ready to engage, support, and become an integral part of the child’s world.
Ideal Candidate:
The family is looking for a flexible, proactive, and team-oriented nanny who is:
Patient, loving, and eager to learn (the family will provide training!)
Comfortable assisting with medical equipment and communication devices
Physically able to assist with transfers in and out of a wheelchair when needed
Fun, outdoorsy, and engaging, keeping screen time to a minimum
A great team player, working alongside parents, teachers, and a second nanny
A positive presence in the home, balancing warmth and structure
A background in special needs care or medical training is a plus but not required—the family is happy to train the right person!
Responsibilities:
Accompany child to school (driving the family’s wheelchair-accessible van) and assist in the classroom
Engage in enriching activities and provide structured, minimal screen-time care
Assist with transfers in and out of her wheelchair when necessary
Help with light household tasks, including meal prep, children’s laundry, emptying the dishwasher, light tidying, and taking out the trash when needed
Work closely with the family’s second nanny in a collaborative role
Qualifications:
Experience in childcare (nannying, teaching, or related field)
Patient, compassionate, and eager to learn (training provided)
Physically able to assist with wheelchair transfers
Strong communicator and team player
Flexible, proactive, and organized with a positive attitude
Fluency in English and eligibility to work in the United States
